Description

Château Cossieu-Coutelin is a renowned wine producer located in the Saint Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, France. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century when it was owned by the Coutelin family. In 1896, it was acquired by the Cossieu family, who added their name to the estate. Today, the property is owned by the Ballande family, who have continued the tradition of producing exceptional wines.

The vineyards of Château Cossieu-Coutelin are situated on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, in the heart of the Saint Estèphe appellation. The estate covers 20 hectares of land, with the majority of the vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The vines are grown on gravelly soils, which are ideal for producing high-quality wines.

The style of production at Château Cossieu-Coutelin is traditional, with a focus on producing wines that reflect the terroir of the estate. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before being fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for up to 18 months, depending on the vintage.

The wines produced by Château Cossieu-Coutelin are known for their elegance, complexity, and balance. The flagship wine of the estate is the Château Cossieu-Coutelin, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. This wine is characterized by its deep ruby color, aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with firm tannins and a long, smooth finish.

Another notable wine produced by Château Cossieu-Coutelin is the Les Pagodes de Cos. This wine is a second wine of the famous Château Cos d'Estournel, which is also owned by the Ballande family. Les Pagodes de Cos is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, and is aged in oak barrels for

Tasting notes

A wine with a deep colour that presents a nose with notes of liquorice and very ripe red fruits. The mouth, seductive, reveals tannins with aromas of black fruits from grapes from the great terroirs of Saint-Estèphe. The finish is long and persistent. An example for its name.
