Description

Château Monbousquet is a Grand Cru wine from the Saint-Emilion region of Bordeaux, France. This wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which are carefully selected and hand-picked from the estate's vineyards.

The taste profile of Château Monbousquet is rich and complex, with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, as well as hints of vanilla, spice, and oak. The tannins are firm and well-structured, providing a long and satisfying finish.

The history of Château Monbousquet dates back to the 16th century, when the estate was owned by the Monbousquet family. In the 18th century, the property was acquired by the De Carles family, who expanded the vineyards and modernized the winemaking techniques. In the 1990s, the estate was purchased by Gerard Perse, who invested heavily in the vineyards and the winery, and brought Château Monbousquet to new heights of quality and prestige.

Today, Château Monbousquet is recognized as one of the top producers of Grand Cru wines in Saint-Emilion, and is highly sought after by wine collectors and enthusiasts around the world.

This wine is best enjoyed with hearty meat dishes, such as beef, lamb, or game, as well as with strong cheeses and dark chocolate. It is also a great wine to savor on its own, as a special treat or to celebrate a special occasion.

Whether you are a seasoned wine connoisseur or a curious beginner, Château Monbousquet is a wine that will delight your senses and transport you to the heart of the Bordeaux region. So why not treat yourself to a bottle today, and experience the magic of this exceptional Grand Cru wine?

Tasting notes

90 Points - The wine Advocate

This vineyard was significantly hit by frost, but I was told there was no use for second-generation fruit. Composed of 60% Merlot, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.

The medium to deep garnet-purple-coloured 2017 Monbousquet gives up notes of crushed blackberries, black raspberries and kirsch with touches of black truffles, marmite toast and tapenade.

Medium-bodied, the palate has a firm structure of grainy tannins and just enough freshness to support the earthy, muscular fruit, finishing on a mineral note.
