Scarpa is a renowned winery located in the Piedmont region of Italy, with a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century. One of the most popular wines produced by Scarpa is La Bogliona, a Barbera d'Asti DOCG. This wine is made from 100% Barbera grapes, which are carefully selected and hand-harvested to ensure only the best quality fruit is used in the winemaking process.

The production of La Bogliona is a traditional one, with the grapes being fermented in large oak barrels for a period of 10-12 days. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months, giving it a deep ruby red colour and a bouquet of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, with a hint of spice.

On the palate, La Bogliona is full-bodied and well-structured, with a good balance of acidity and tannins. The wine has a long and persistent finish, with a touch of vanilla and oak. This wine is best enjoyed with hearty meat dishes, such as roasted lamb or beef, or with aged cheeses.
