Description
Description
Caol Ila is a distillery located on the island of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. It was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson and is now owned by Diageo. The name Caol Ila means "Sound of Islay" in Gaelic, referring to the narrow strait that separates Islay from the neighbouring island of Jura.
Caol Ila is known for producing peated single malt whisky, with a distinctive smoky flavour. The Moch expression is a no-age-statement whisky that is bottled at 43% ABV. It is named after the Gaelic word for "dawn" and is meant to evoke the feeling of a new day on Islay.
The Moch is a light and fresh whisky, with notes of citrus and smoke on the nose. On the palate, it is smooth and creamy, with flavours of vanilla, honey, and a hint of brine. The finish is long and smoky, with a touch of spice.
Caol Ila is one of the largest distilleries on Islay, producing around 6 million litres of whisky per year. Despite its size, it is still considered one of the classic Islay distilleries, and its whiskies are highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts around the world. Whether you're a whisky connoisseur or just looking to try something new, Caol Ila's Moch expression is sure to please.
